Using its oversight authority over the District of Columbia, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill on Tuesday that would repeal a city law allowing noncitizens to vote in elections for local D.C. offices.
More than a quarter of the House Democrats who voted joined with Republicans to pass the measure by a 266-148 vote.
One Democratic member voted present. Of those who voted, all 210 Republicans voted in favor of the measure, while 56 Democrats also voted in favor.
